Thick Ham Steak, Field and Snap Peas, and Spinach
When you're on the road having a home-cooked meal can be a much needed treat at the end of a long day. Truck stop food is basically all the same, except for the few small mom and pop places that are left. So cooking in our W900 is a nice break from the routine.
The other night was a down home, good old fashioned southern country dinner night in the Sugar Shack. We had thick ham steaks, field and snap peas with bacon, and baby spiniach leaves braised in bacon. This entire delicious meal cooked in our truck in about 30 minutes.
2 thick ham steaks
1 bag baby spinach leaves
1 can Field and Snap Peas
1-2 cloves minced garlic
8 strips bacon
1/2 diced onion (small)
Pink Himalayn Salt
Crushed Black Pepper
First cook 8 strips of bacon until crisp in the Aroma on STS setting, the lid open. Remove the bacon and crumble. Season the hamsteak with pink Himalayn salt, fresh ground black pepper, and 1 clove minced garlic.
Dice half of a small onion. Sautee in bacon grease until translucent. Add hamsteak, cook for approximately 10-15 minutes flipping several times until all sides are carmelized. Remove and set aside.
Add half the crumbled bacon, himalayn salt, crushed black pepper, and garlic to taste to the field and snap peas in a microwave safe bowl. Heat on medium heat for 3-5 minutes, stirring halfway Alternately, this portion can be cooked in the 12volt lunchbox oven. Just add all ingredients to a small tin pan, place in lunchbox oven, plug in to 12volt plug and cook for atleast an hour.
In the Aroma add a whole bag of baby spinach leaves to the remaining bacon grease on STS setting. Sautee until wilted and well coated with bacon grease. Add remaining crumbled bacon.
